Fundamentals of HVDC Systems

This module provides a general and technical introduction to High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology, suitable for participants from diverse backgrounds. It covers various aspects of HVDC, including its historical perspective, integration into the grid, power electronics, control principles, and ancillary services. Participants will also learn about FACTS, reactive compensation, project steps and timelines, case studies, power system reliability with HVDC, and future perspectives of HVDC grids.

By the end of this module, attendees will have a solid understanding of the basics of HVDC grids and HVDC technology.
